When it comes to making inflammatory and taking pot-shots at each other, nothing brings out the best in our politicians like the Lok Sabha elections. Even seemingly liberal politicians like Vasundhra Raje think it’s absolutely okay to talk about ‘who’ll get cut into pieces,’ in election speeches. Then there was Rashid Masood from Congress, who threatened to cut Modi into pieces. An Indian election would hardly be very Indian without a healthy dose of communal rhetoric. But the two leaders who seem to be race to the bottom are BJP’s Amit Shah and Samajwadi Party’s Azam Khan. Khan and Shah vie each other in terms of notoriety and reputation for unsavoury political shenanigans. [caption id=“attachment_1469501” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] Combo picture of Azam Khan and Amit Shah.[/caption] Khan is Mulayam Singh Yadav’s notorious political lieutenant, with a generous share of cases registered against him. Amit Shah has been in and out of news due to his alleged role in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh encounter case and the ‘Snoopgate scandal’ involving the top brass of the Gujarat government. Now both are making headlines for their gutter rhetoric. Here are some of worst quotes we’ve heard this election from these two. We leave it to you to decide who is the winner of this contest of disreputability. [caption id=“attachment_1469475” align=“alignleft” width=“600”]

Perhaps two leaders who’ve managed to stand out when it comes to making totally uncool speeches are BJP’s Amit Shah and Samajwadi Party’s Azam Khan.
