Meanwhile, Kumar reiterated BJP’s demand that former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee be given the country’s highest civilian honour, the Bharat Ratna for his contribution to the nation.

“It is high time for the Centre to bestow Bharat Ratna to Vajpayee as demanded by Union ministers Farooq Abdullah and Pallam Raju among scores of other countrymen,” he said.

Kumar said the Centre should rise above “narrow political interests” to bestow the award to Vajpayee.

On BJP’s poll campaign in Madhya Pradesh, he said top leaders, including the party president Rajnath Singh, LK Advani, BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, Sushma Swaraj among others, would be addressing nearly 200 election meetings ahead of elections.
