The UPA government and Lok Sabha Speaker came for severe criticism after the Telangana Bill was passed during a black out of the Lok Sabha telecasts. TMC and JD(U) MPs staged a walkout and some MPs used harsh words to slam the incidents. The UPA however defended the chaos surrounding the issue saying they had to pass the Bill because they have promised a seperate Telangana state. Representational image. AFP[/caption] Here are some reactions: Sushilkumar Shinde: We had promised a seperate Telangana and we had to pass the bill. During my speech on Telangana I said that we will give special package to them. Kamal Nath: This was a 60-year-old demand. BJP supported the bill but called it unconstitutional. Still wondering whether they supported or opposed it. The BJP played a double game. LK Advani: The way the Telangana bill was passed is a perversion of democracy. Dinesh Trivedi (TMC MP): I don’t know under whose instructions live TV was blacked out, somebody needs to answer. Blacking out Lok Sabha telecast is as bad as the Emergency. The spirit of democracy has been killed. YS Jaganmohan Reddy (YSRCP): Today is black day in the history of democracy. Lok Sabha telecast was cut off. Sharad Yadav (JDU MP): We walked out of if because what happened is unfair. I have never seen such chaos in Parliament. YS Chowdhury (TDP MP): The Congress is doing dirty politics and the Speaker acted as their agent. She has maligned the name of her father who did so much for our country. CM Ramesh (TDP MP): Its like daylight murder, they have stopped TV broadcast of Lok Sabha proceedings. Krishnappa (TDP MP): What they are doing is not right… BJP and Congress are doing drama.
