For his part, Rajnath Singh told reporters that “I discussed with the senior police officials about how we can modernise the force to tackle law and order problems in the national capital”. Singh reached the police headquarters accompanied by Anil Goswami, Union Home Secretary, and other MHA officials at around noon and stayed there for nearly two hours. He was received at PHQ by Bassi and a guard of honour was presented. Singh visited Central Police Control Room (CPCR) and Integrated Command Control Co-ordination and Communication Centre (C4i). Special Commissioner (Operations) S Sundari Nanda explained the functioning of the CPCR and the Women Helpline Desk (1091) to him. Thereafter, Bassi gave a presentation on some of the key steps introduced by the police in the recent past and also apprised the Home Minister about some of the achievements of the force. Bassi apprised the Home Minister about the organizational structure, law and order situation, crime scenario and functioning of important units. He also outlined the community policing initiatives and special measures taken for women’s safety and vulnerable sections of the society. He mentioned about the “spectacular success” of recently- launched mobile and web application for lodging ‘Lost Report’ and of mobile phone-based traffic assistance application. A special mention was also made of certain issues pending consideration of the government of India. These include Safe City Project, creation of additional posts, incentives for policemen posted in specialized high-risk units and additional requirement of funds for vehicles and police housing. Singh assured Delhi Police that consideration would be given to the pending proposals so that a modern police machinery is provided to Delhi’s citizens. Singh also paid homage to the slain Delhi Police constable Manna Ram who was mowed down by a car in West Delhi. In fact it was Singh who asked all the officers present to observe a minute’s silence in memory of Mana Ram, said Bassi. PTI
