The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday released footage of what it claimed was evidence of the BJP resorting to horse-trading in order to form the next Delhi government. In the video, Delhi BJP leader Sher Singh Dagar is shown talking to AAP leader Dinesh Manohiya. Another BJP leader Raghubir Dahiya and AAP member Vivek Yadav were also allegedly present, although they could not be seen in the footage. The meeting is shown to have taken place at 2:30 pm at Dagar’s residence in New Delhi. In the video, Dagar is seen trying to convince AAP leaders of the security and benefits they will get if they resign from AAP and join BJP. “You are dearer than a little brother,” Dagar is allegedly heard saying in the video. “Tell us your requirements, doubts without any hesitation,” he said. He also indicated that the order for such horse-trading came from higher authorities in the party. After releasing the video, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal, in a press conference on Monday, said “BJP’s dirty game has been exposed,” and that they would present the footage to the the Supreme Court on Tuesday. “Our operation to expose BJP’s horse-trading has been going on for one month,” said Kejriwal. “BJP does not have the numbers to form the Delhi government, which is why they are indulging in malpractices. We will not let them form the Delhi government through dishonesty,” he added. You can watch the video here:
Reacting to the video, BJP leader Vijendra Gupta, in an interview to Times Now, said, “BJP did not authorise Sher Singh Dagar to do anything. The party is not concerned with any unofficial meetings that the party memebers hold with anyone.” “We do not trust the AAP,” said Gupta, indicating that BJP did not believe in the authenticity of the video. Gupta also said that the AAP had been trying to defame BJP for a long time and this move was just another desperate attempt to do that. The video tape has been released even as speculation is rife that the Lieutenant-Governor of Delhi has written to the President seeking to invite the BJP to form the next state government of Delhi. While the BJP is yet to receive a letter inviting it to form the next state government, as Firstpost's Sanjay Singh had pointed out , the party is going to keep its opponents guessing on whether it will do so or not. While there are multiple camps in the party that have different solutions, the final decision, he had noted, would be taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in consultation with party chief Amit Shah. The AAP’s timing of the video is also crucial because the central government has to respond to the apex court about the status of the government formation and have to seen trying to install a popular government. The BJP presently has 28 seats in the Delhi Assembly, which is presently suspended, after four of its MLAs became MPs after the Lok Sabha elections earlier this year. The AAP and Congress have raised objections to any move to let the BJP form the government in Delhi.
