AAP promises to fight corruption, decriminalise gay sex in manifesto

AAP today released their poll manifesto in New Delhi that promises to fight corruption, set up a Janlokpal and decriminalise gay sex. During the release of the manifesto, party chief Arvind Kejriwal said, “AAP was formed to fight against corruption. Our biggest goal is to rid the country of corruption. There is no other party that can remove corruption in the country.” [caption id=“attachment_1464573” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] ![A file photo of AAP releasing their manifesto before the Delhi assembly elections. PTI[/caption] He hit out at the Congress saying, “Congress cannot speak of a corruption free India with Chidambaram, Sibal and Pawar with them.” The Janlokpal Bill was also one of the major promises in the manifesto. “Our Janlokpal Bill will cover everyone from the prime minister to the peon.” Kejriwal also said protecting the citizens of the country was on their agenda. “Protecting our citizens is a huge responsibility of a government. We will implement police reforms. Investigation and law and order will be two different departments in the police force. We will also need to figure out ways for internal accountability for the police.” Kejriwal added that the party wanted to reduce the age for becoming an MLA. “If Bhagat Singh could have such revolutionary idea at a young age, why can’t others,” he said. The manifesto promised decentralisation of power. “Decentralisation of political power or Swaraj is also needed. While absolute decentralisation may not be possible, states should have more power,” said Kejriwal. Decriminalising gay sex, forming gram and mohalla sabhas, larger use of technology were some of the other things that AAP promised in their manifesto.
