BJP hits out at AAP, says power hungry Kejriwal exposed

BJP said Kejriwal tried to project himself as “different” whereas he was not, and proved to be like any other politician hungry for power. It said with this expose, the claims of senior AAP leader Yogendra Yadav that Kejriwal only wanted power have also been proved to be right.

“Kejriwal used to ask his people to do sting and record any wrong-doing. His own people have recorded and presented his own picture before the world. Kejriwal’s real face today stands exposed before the world as one having no principle and who is only seeking to grab power,” BJP national secretary Shrikant Sharma said.

This, the BJP leader said, also proves the allegations made against Kejriwal by senior AAP leader Yogendra Yadav that he had tried only to “grab” power.

We stand vindicated, says Congress

The Congress party, which faced a complete wipe out in the recently concluded elections, took the opportunity to hit out at the AAP, with Delhi party chief Ajay Maken terming it as the ‘worst political party’.

“No one believed when we said that people in AAP can go to any extent to get power. We stand vindicated, Maken told reporters, adding “earlier also we indicated that many of our MLAs were approached by AAP, so they can be bought over.”

AAP clarifies, says ‘horse-trading’ term inappropriate

Hours after a conversation between ex-AAP leader Rajesh Garg and Arvind Kejriwal surfaced online, the party sought to defend their national convener and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal saying there was no horse trading as there was never a mention of money being offered.

“I want to make it clear, there must be debate on this tape all across the country. Some people are using the big word like ‘horse trading’ very irresponsibly. Political realignment is a reality in politics, but ‘horse trading’ is wrong,” AAP leader Ashish Khetan told reporters.

“Even if we assume the tape is authentic, where does it suggest that monetary gains were offered by AAP in exchange of support?” he said, justifying that “we do accept political realignments have taken place in the past, and are happening in the present, and will continue to take place in the future.
PDP-BJP have formed government in Jammu and Kashmir, this is also an example of realignment.

“At that time, efforts were being made by BJP to form its government through horse trading. Those Cong MLAs were in touch with our MLAs as well, it was in the interest of Delhi to form government with the outside support of Congress,” Khetan added.

Reuters[/caption] On Tuesday, senior party leaders Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan released a letter addressed to party volunteers explaining issues they had with the party leadership, including alleged horse trading, improper candidate selection process and the sole objective of winning the elections at the cost of party ethics and principles. Making matters worse, its leader in Maharashtra, Anjali Damania quit from her position over a December 2014 audio tape that surfaced where Arvind Kejriwal is heard discussing with then party leader Rajesh Garg how to get the support of six Congress MLAs. “I am very, very upset. I joined AAP because of the principles and not for horse-trading,” she told reporters. Track all the live updates here.
