AAP attack: Z category security for Kejriwal whether he likes it or not?

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has clearly said that he does not want the kind of security usually reserved for his post, but after the audacious attack on the AAP Ghaziabad office on Wednesday, he may no longer have a choice. Shortly after assuming the post of Chief Minister, Kejriwal had turned down security cover,  writing a letter to the Additional Commissioner of Police, saying that God was his biggest security. According to a report in the Hindustan Times which quoted an unnamed UP official: Though Kejriwal has refused security cover for himself, even after the Wednesday’s attack by right wing activists on Aam Aadmi Party’s office in Ghaziabad, the state government does not want to take any chances, the official said. “If any untoward incident happens, the UP Police would get the blame,” he said. Although Kejriwal is the Delhi Chief Minister, he lives in Ghaziabad, which is a part of Uttar Pradesh. He has also refused to move into the city, most recently refusing a five bedroom DDA apartment on Bhagwan Das road. This has meant that his security has de facto become the responsibility of the Uttar Pradesh government. No one was injured in the attack on the AAP office on Wednesday, when 40 activists broke flower pots kept outside the AAP office and tore up posters. Some glass doors were also smashed in the attack. However it has fueled concerns that the next attack, if there is one, could be much more serious. Following the incident a visibly upset Kejriwal  questioned the miscreants’ motive and wondered whether they wanted to kill him and Prashant Bhushan because of the latter’s remarks on Kashmir. “Let us assume that Prashant Bhushan indeed said something objectionable, so what do they want? Do they want to kill Prashantji?” he asked. The Delhi Chief Minister has so far stuck firmly to his demand that he does not want security. But for how long will he be allowed to do this?
