AAP accuses L-G, ACB of shielding ex-CM Sheila Dikshit in Delhi Jal Board scam

New Delhi: Water Minister Kapil Mishra on Wednesday accused Lt Governor Najeeb Jung and ACB chief MK Meena of “shielding” former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit in the alleged water meter scam and “implicating” Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and him in a “wrong” case. Terming as “illegal” the notice sent by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) to Dikshit in the alleged scam, Mishra said the anti-graft body was treating him, who was a complainant, as an accused, but the agency had a soft stand in case of the former Chief Minister. On 23 June, ACB had sent a notice to the Water Minister asking him to appear before it on 4 July. Last week, it also sent a notice to Dikshit in the scam which had allegedly taken place in 2010. PTI[/caption] Mishra asked the ACB chief under whose pressure he was allegedly giving a clean chit to Dikshit, the three-time Chief Minister of Delhi. On Tuesday, Dikshit had questioned the “timing” of the “politically motivated” charges against her pertaining to the alleged multi-crore water tanker scam. Last month, ACB had registered a case in the case but had not named Dikshit in the FIR. “I was shocked to see the notice sent by ACB to Sheila Dikshit which clearly indicates that Meena is trying to shield her. I was sent notice under Section 160 of CrPC but in Dikshit’s case, ACB did not mention any section in notice which is illegal,” Mishra told reporters in New Delhi. He said in the notice to Dikshit, ACB has said a suitable and convenient date, time and place are required to be fixed for above mentioned (alleged water meter scam) purpose in August 2016 and the same should be conveyed to the earliest. “This is not notice but just a request in which accused has been asked by ACB to appear before it as per her convenience. Is Sheila Dikshit is a relative (aunt) of Prime Minister Narendra Modi following which such notice has been sent to her. In my case, ACB had strictly clearly mentioned date, time and place in notice sent to me. “There are two things. Meena either doesn’t know law to send notice to an accused or he has pressure to shield Dikshit in the alleged scam. Instead of taking action against Dikshit, Kejriwal and I are being implicated by the LG, ACB and BJP,” he said. The minister claimed that if action is taken against Dikshit, she would disclose names of those, who are leaders of a political party, involved in the scam. He claimed that to implicate Kejriwal and him in “wrong case”, meetings are held at a residence of a BJP leader whose identity he did not disclose in the press conference. Four FIRs were registered by the AAP government during its previous 49-day rule in 2014 in connection with alleged irregularities in Delhi Jal Board (DJB) under the Sheila Dikshit government. The AAP-led government had directed ACB to register FIRs in these cases of alleged irregularities in DJB that allegedly caused a loss of Rs 341 crore to the state exchequer.
