A Raja receives hero's welcome in Chennai

Former Telecom Minsiter and one of the prominent faces of the 2G scam, A Raja arrived in his home state of Tamil Nadu today, after over an year amidst celebrations by his supporters. He was given a hero’s welcome at the Chennai airport by more than 2,000 DMK workers amid drum beats and fanfare. Many of those waiting at the Chennai airport to receive Raja belonged to his hometown, Perambalur and his constituency, the Niligiris. [caption id=“attachment_337261” align=“alignleft” width=“380” caption=“pti”]  [/caption] The prime accused in the 2G scam, Raja, is now being projected by his supporters as a leader who put himself in the line of fire for his party. He is being touted as a victim of his Dalit status by his supporters. According to an NDTV report, Raja’s first stop in Chennai will be the DMK headquarters Anna Arivalayam to meet party chief Karunananidhi. He is likely to visit his constituency on Sunday, where grand celebrations await him, said the NDTV report. Earlier a Delhi court had allowed Raja to visit his home state Tamil Nadu between 8 June and 30 June.
