Reuters[/caption] According to a report in The Economic Times, Modi has addressed 128 rallies since his name was declared by party president Rajnath Singh as the party’s contender for the country’s top job. Nearly two crore people have attended these 128 rallies. BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi was quoted as saying that before Parliamentary elections are held, Modi would hold another 200-250 rallies in an attempt to directly reach out to more than 25 crore people. The party has been keen to announce record turnouts at each of the major rallies attended by Modi over the past two months. Even on Sunday, at the Mumbai rally, the BJP claimed that nine lakh people were at the venue of the rally in the MMRDA Grounds, Bandra KUrla COmplex, though police estimated the number was closer to 3 lakh. The party will also try to focus on states such as West Bengal, Kerala, Odisha and in the northeast where it does not have a presence.
Record crowds expected at these rallies before 2014 Parliamentary elections, including in states where the BJP does not have a strong presence.
