14 Karnataka ex-Congress and JD(S) MLAs move Supreme Court challenging disqualification from Assembly

Earlier, two expelled Congress leaders and an Independent leader had moved the apex court on 29 July. Three ex-JD(S) MLAs have filed a joint petition challenging the 28 July decision of disqualification by KR Ramesh Kumar, who resigned on Monday as Speaker of the House.

Other ex-Congress MLAs who have approached the apex court are — Prathap Gouda Patil, BC Patil, Shivaram Hebbar, ST Somashekar, Byrathi Basavaraj, Munirathna.

New Delhi: Fourteen disqualified leaders formerly belonging to the Congress and JD(S) moved the Supreme Court on Thursday, challenging their disqualification as MLAs from the Karnataka Assembly. Earlier, two expelled Congress leaders — Ramesh L Jharkhiholi and Mahesh Kumathalli — and an Independent leader R Shanker, who were disqualified as MLAs on 25 July, had moved the apex court on 29 July. Ex-JD(S) MLAs AH Vishwanath, K Gopalaiah, Narayana Gowda have filed a joint petition challenging the 28 July decision of disqualification by KR Ramesh Kumar, who resigned on Monday as Speaker of the House. Other ex-Congress MLAs who have approached the apex court are — Prathap Gouda Patil, BC Patil, Shivaram Hebbar, ST Somashekar, Byrathi Basavaraj, Munirathna. The remaining MLAs who were disqualified are — Roshan Baig, Anand Singh, MTB Nagaraj, K Sudhakar, Sand Shrimant Patil (all were from Congress).
