This is Vijay Rupani's second consecutive term as chief minister and the 61-year-old is the 14th chief minister of the state. A total of eight cabinet ministers and 10 ministers of state took oath on Monday. Twitter @vijayrupanibjp
Deputy chief minister Nitin Patel also took the oath of office. Of the new Cabinet ministers sworn in, five were retained from the previous ministry. Similarly, five ministers of state from the earlier ministry were also sworn-in. Twitter@AmitShah
The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP chief Amit Shah and chief ministers of other BJP-ruled states. PTI
BJP patriarch LK Advani and Union minister Rajnath Singh were also present. Before the ceremony, Rupani and deputy chief minister Nitin Patel greeted the BJP leaders. PTI
Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar, who is in alliance with the BJP in his state, was also present in the swearing-in ceremony, prompting many to term the presence as a precursor to Kumar playing a wider role in the NDA in the future. PTI
With 99 members of the legislative assembly, the BJP now has a significant majority in the 182-member Assembly although it won 16 seats less than its 2012 tally of 115. PTI
While in 2016, there were 23 ministers in the Gujarat cabinet, with nine from the Patidar community, this year the cabinet will witness six ministers from the Patidar community. PTI
Among other ministers sworn in on Friday are RC Faldu, who has twice been the state BJP president; and Kaushik Patel, who was a cabinet minister in the Keshubhai Patel and Narendra Modi-led state governments. PTI
