Trump's five-nation Asia tour is dubbed as an important trip that would reflect on US' commitment to meet cahllenges posed by North Korea's nuclear breakout and China's bid for regional hegemony. AP
The trip began just days after Trump's former campaign manager Paul Manafort was indicted in the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election. AP
The US president also visited Pearl Harbour and the USS Arizona memorial for the US sailors killed when Japan bombed the American naval base on 7 December, 1941. AP
Trump's plan for an extended absence from Washington has alarmed allies who, after seeing a healthcare reform bid fizzle, worry tax effort could suffer without the president. AP
