Having won all the major world titles, Semenya has trained her focus on attempting to break the 34-year-old record of 1:53.28. Though Asbel Kiprop failed to win his fourth world title in the men’s 1,500m, his compatriot Elijah Manangoi gave Kenya a lot to cheer by winning his maiden world title.  Manangoi, the fastest man in 2017, sped past Timothy Cheruiyot who had to settle for silver. Norway’s Filip Ingebrigtsen snatched the bronze by throwing himself over the finish line. AP
