The National Students Union of India (NSUI) and the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) staged demonstrations in New Delhi on Monday against the crackdown on Benaras Hindu University (BHU) students. PTI
The two student organisations had separately announced their plans to stage demonstrations outside the office of the ministry of human resource development (MHRD) in New Delhi. PTI
Delhi Police detained several students who tried to jump the barricades put up at Shastri Bhawan . PTI
The protesters criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath for failing to protect female students during the clashes at BHU. PTI
Police said that permission was not granted for any protest near the ministry and hence students were detained. PTI
Other student unions like AISA, AIWDA and KYS also held a separate protest at Jantar Mantar on Monday. PTI
