In Delhi’s Daryaganj, a car was crushed beneath the debris of a school’s boundary wall that gave way under the relentless rain. Meanwhile, in North Delhi’s Sabzi Mandi, a house collapsed near Robin Cinema, leaving one person injured. Similarly in Vasant Kunj, a woman was hurt when a wall succumbed to the deluge. According to The Indian Express, Delhi Police received 27 calls about building collapses and 50 calls for uprooted trees during the rains on Wednesday. PTI

Traffic snarls were reported on several key roads in Delhi and also in neighbouring NCR region leaving commuters stranded on roads for hours. According to NDTV, commuters on the Mehrauli-Chhattarpur road claimed to be stuck there for over one-and-a-half hours because of continuous downpour. People tried to pull a two-wheeler from being swept away by rainwater near Old Rajinder Nagar during the rain, but the area was submerged following heavy rain on Wednesday evening. In a separate incident, In Ghazipur, a mother-son drowned after slipping into a waterlogged drain whereas in Gurugram, three people died due to electrocution after tree fell into water logged areas, exposing high tension wires in the area. In Old Rajinder Nagar, students continued their protest in thigh-high water, demanding action from authorities after the area was once again waterlogged on Wednesday. This demonstration follows the tragic death of three UPSC aspirants just days earlier, who drowned in the flooded basement of a coaching centre. PTI

Following the rains, Delhi government announced that all government and private schools will remain shut in the national capital on Thursday.
