A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan, identified as Rameez Ahmad Parray, was shot dead, while three of his family members were injured in an attack by suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants in north Kashmir’s Bandipore. The militants, after forcing their way into the house in Parrey Mohalla, fired indiscriminately at the family. Police said the incident occurred around 9.25 pm. Parray fought valiantly before he was gunned down at point-blank range. Reuters

Kashmir Police said that the jawan died on the spot, whereas his family members suffered gunshot wounds. The previous night, police had launched a cordon operation at Parray mohalla, and militants believed that Parray was involved in the exercise. Reuters
