Relatives mourn death of BSF jawan Rameez Parray after he was shot dead by militants in Bandipore

Militants on Wednesday night stormed the home of a Kashmiri BSF constable on vacation, shooting him dead and inflicting gunshot wounds on four of his family members in Hajjan in Bandipore district

A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan, identified as Rameez Ahmad Parray, was shot dead, while three of his family members were injured in an attack by suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants in north Kashmir’s Bandipore. The jawan was spending some quiet time with family at his aunt’s place on Wednesday night when militants barged in and shot him dead. Reuters

The militants, after forcing their way into the house in Parrey Mohalla, fired indiscriminately at the family. Police said the incident occurred around 9.25 pm. Parray fought valiantly before he was gunned down at point-blank range. Reuters

Kashmir Police said that the jawan died on the spot, whereas his family members suffered gunshot wounds. The previous night, police had launched a cordon operation at Parray mohalla, and militants believed that Parray was involved in the exercise. Reuters
