People pelted with tomatoes at Spain's annual Tomatina festival

Thousands of people celebrated the annual “Tomatina” festival in eastern Spain. Revellers on trucks threw tomatos into the crowd.

Many people wore swimming goggles to protect their eyes. People on balconies overlooking the festivities were also pelted, and tomatoes left red blotches on buildings’ white walls. Photo: Reuters
