Nitish Kumar met Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi on Wednesday evening and tendered his resignation. He said that, “In the circumstances that prevail in Bihar, it became difficult to run the Grand Alliance government”. PTI

Kumar was under intense pressure to remove Tejaswi Yadav after his dubious dealings came to the fore following raids to his premises by CBI and ED. PTI

Later on Wednesday evening, the BJP parliamentary board quickly met in Delhi and appointed a three-member committee of Bihar leaders to study the situation. Narendra Modi welcomed Kumar’s resignation. In a tweet, he congratulated Nitish for joining the fight against corruption. PTI

RJD reacted sharply to Kumar’s resignation. Lalu Pradad Yadav said that Nitish was “involved” with BJP and RSS. Lalu also accused Nitish of facing a murder charge. PTI

Later, BJP announced it’s support to Nitish. It’s legislators met Nitish’s JD(U) MLAs. Nitish handed over a list of 132 MLAs whose support he had, to governor Tripathi. PTI

BJP’s Sushil Kumar Modi will swear-in as deputy chief minister while Nitish Kumar will take oath as state’s chief minister on Thurday. A floor test in the Bihar Assembly will be held on Friday, since Bihar governor has given Nitish two days from Wednesday to prove majority. PTI
