President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice-President Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Communications Minister Manoj Sinha released a set of eight commemorative postage stamps during a ceremony hosted in the honour of freedom-fighters at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on the occasion of August Kranti Day. Prime Minister Narendra Modi felicitated families of the freedom fighters on the occasion. The Monsoon Session of the Parliament also held a special session marking the 75th anniversary of the Quit India Movement. PTI
Former president Pranab Mukherjee and former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Hooda also attended a function to release a book 'Parliamentary contribution of Bishwanath Roy, a veteran freedom fighter in nation building' in New Delhi. PTI
The ceremony facilitating the families of the freedom fighters was also attended by several leaders of the Opposition like Manmohan Singh. PTI
Quit India Movement launched in August 1942, with Mahatma Gandhi's call for independence, was launched at Mumbai's Gowalia Tank, which later came to be known as August Kranti Maidan due to its association with the historic event. PTI
