Narendra Modi on Wednesday announced the start of a new flight service connecting Delhi, Mumbai and Tel Aviv. Air India used to operate directs flights to Israel from New Delhi until the mid-1990s and from Mumbai until the early 2000s, which were reportedly withdrawn for commercial reasons. PTI

Narendra Modi and his delegation met recipients of the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman, an award instituted by the Indian government for Indians living abroad who achieve success in various fields. PTI

During the ceremony, Narendra Modi met with Eliyahu Bezalel, Sheikh Ansari and Dr. Lael Anson Best, recipients of the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman. Bezalel was the first Israeli of Indian origin to receive the award in 2005. Ansari, who manages the Indian Hospice in Jerusalem, was honoured with the award in 2011, while Best, an accomplished cardiothoracic surgeon, received the award in 2017. PTI

Narendra Modi, accompanied by Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, then visited the Israel Museum in Jerusalem for an exhibition of Indian Jewish heritage. PTI

One of the many stops in the museum was at the gallery displaying the religious and secular culture of the Jewish community in Kochi, Kerala, while another was an exhibit showing a set of Torah scrolls in silver casings which were earlier displayed in the Magen David synagogue in Kolkata. PTI
