Narendra Modi, Amit Shah on a campaign overdrive before polling in UP, Manipur

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah were on a campaign overdrive before the sixth phase of elections. While Modi was in UP’s Maharajganj, Shah was in Manipur’s Imphal.

Modi took a dig at the critics of note ban. “On the one hand are those (critics of note ban) who talk of what people at Harvard say and on the other hand is a poor man’s son who through his hard work is trying to improve the economy,” he said. PTI

Modi said the electorate has already ensured BJP’s victory in the first five phases and now they would give surplus votes as “gift and bonus” in the remaining two rounds. PTI

BJP president Amit Shah while campaigning in Imphal pledged that corruption cases involving leaders of the incumbent Congress government would be duly investigated and all those found guilty would be imprisoned if his party took power. PTI

Taking a dig at Chief Minister Ibobi Singh, Shah said that 1.51 tons of rice given by the Centre never reached beneficiaries and alleged that there was a lack of transparency in almost all the state-sponsored schemes by the Centre. PTI
