Yousafzai completed her schooling in Britain on 7 July and joined Twitter the same day. She started attending school in the city of Birmingham where she was treated after the shooting in October 2012. AFP

Yousafzai became the youngest and only the sixth person to receive honorary Canadian citizenship. She was bestowed with the title in April, 2017. Reuters

In the same month, Yousafzai became the youngest member to be appointed a United Nations Messenger of Peace. She has also visited refugee camps in Rwanda and Kenya to talk about the plight of refugee girls. Reuters

Yousafzai also became the youngest person to to win the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014 at the age of 17. She shared the award with award with Kailash Satyarthi, a child’s rights activist. Reuters

Yousafzai funded the Malala fund, which is a non-profit organisation that helps young girls to go to school. She has also co-authored a book titled I am Malala. Reuters
