President Donald Trump sent his “warmest condolences and sympathies to the victims and families of the terrible Las Vegas shooting”. In a public press conference, he declared the shooting an “act of pure evil”, a “senseless murder” and a “terrible, terrible attack”. Reuters

On 1 October, a mass shooting occurred at the Route 91 Harvest country music festival on the Las Vegas Strip in Nevada. A gunman Stephen Paddock on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel and casino across Las Vegas Boulevard opened fire into the festival crowd killing 59 and injuring more than 500. Reuters

Nevada governor Brian Sandoval called the shooting “a tragic and heinous act of violence that has shaken the Nevada family”. Jason Aldean, who was performing when the shooting started, posted his condolences on Instagram. Reuters
