Born Subramaniyam Mahadevan on 18 July, 1935, Saraswathi was anointed successor to the Mutt by Sri Chandrasekarendra Saraswathi Swamigal and was given the title on 22 March, 1954. Prasanna Venkatesh/101Reporters
