In the final session, the bowlers got India right back into the game as Ravichandran Ashwin snared the wickets of debutant Roshen Silva and Dickwella to leave the Lankan batting line-up struggling to cross the follow-on mark. AP

The fast bowlers Mohammed Shami and Ishant Sharma also took a wicket each in the final session to expose the frailties of the Lankan lower order and ensure India ended the day with a considerable lead over their neighbours. AP

Though the day began with Sri Lankan batsmen dictating the proceedings, the final session followed a familiar route as the bowlers took wickets in quick succession leaving the last Lankan pair of Sandakan and Chandimal at the crease at stumps. Chandimal tried his best to play with the tail allowing them least exposure to the Indian bowling line-up, but couldn’t do much about their dismissals. The day ended with Sri Lanka at 356/9 with a deficit of 180. AP
