Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday paid homage to the Police Personnel, who got killed while performing various duties across the country from September 2016 to August 2017, on Police Commemoration Day.

A Police Commemoration Day Parade was also held at the National Police Memorial in New Delhi, in presence of Singh, heads of all the Central Paramilitary Forces, Commissioner of Delhi Police, senior officers of the Ministry of Home Affairs, and retired Police Officers. PTI

In Srinagar, the Jammu and Kashmir women police personnel paid tributes to police martyrs on this occassion. 21 October is observed as Police Commemoration Day to pay homage to 10 policemen who were killed in firing by Chinese troops in 1959. PTI

In past one year, 383 police personnel have lost thier lives. Majority of the police personnel died while dealing with cross-border firing from Pakistan, fighting militancy in Jammu and Kashmir, naxals and other law and order duties. PTI
