This march was inspired by a similar global rally on 22 April in which millions participated from over 600 cities. Cyrus Khan.

The protesters put out a list of demands which included allocation of at least 10 percent of GDP for higher education and at least three percent of GDP for scientific and technological research. Cyrus Khan

They also demanded initiatives to ensure that the education system does not impart obscurantist ideas that are not supported by scientific evidence and further enact policies regarding it. Cyrus Khan.

The rally also highlighted that Indian Constitution’s Article 51A speaks of developing a scientific temperament among the population and demanded more initiatives for the same. Cyrus Khan.
