In the first session of News18 India Rising Summit, Union Ministers Union Ministers Piyush Goyal and Nitin Gadkari engaded into discussion on the topic of 'The building blocks of India'
News18 Network kicked off the the two-day summit titled 'News18 Rising India Summit' on Friday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, delivering the keynote address, said the words 'Rising India' give us a vision of someone moving from darkness to light. 'Rising India' signifies growing, moving forward in life, he said.
In the first session, Union ministers Piyush Goyal and Nitin Gadkari discussed on the topic of 'The Building Blocks of India'. News18
Gadkari promised that the government will achieve their road-making targets by end of March, adding that he will be answerable if the target is not met. Commenting on the demand of special status for Andhra Pradesh, he said that it is not a feasible idea since other states too might also demand the same. News18
Goyal, speaking about the priorities of the Railways, said that the government's first focus is on poor passengers. The Indian Railways remains primarily a public utility service, he said. News18
In the second session titled 'The Making of a New World Power', Union minister Suresh Prabhu said that country's GDP has been growing largely due to the service sector. He stressed on focusing on manufacturing, which will foster agricultural sector. News18
In the third session, Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar said that his state has made great progress in terms of ease of doing business. Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan exuded confidence that his party will emerge victorious in the upcoming Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections. News18
As Modi addressed the summit, he said that developing east India is his first priority. When the North East goes from isolation to integration, it will truly lead to a 'Rising India', Modi said. News18
Listing out his government's achievement on sanitation, the prime minister said that 13 crore households have toilets today. Sanitation coverage in India has gone up from 38 percent to 80 percent. News18
Modi said that his government launched the National Nutrition Mission on International Women's Day. The health of mothers and sisters is a priority for our government, Modi said. News18
The prime minister also said that when anyone talks about India, it is a positive story. He also said that his government changed the tax system which earlier was unfriendly. News18
