India bank on all-round effort to blank Sri Lanka in 2nd Test, clinch series 2-0

All round team performance helped India win the 2nd Test against Sri Lanka by an innings and 53 runs on Day 4 at the Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) Ground in Colombo. India seal series 2-0 with one Test left to be played. AFP
Sri Lanka's opener Dimuth Karunaratne resumed his innings from 92 on Day 4 and went to complete a fantastic century. Karunaratne scored his 6th Test ton and dismissed for 141 after Ravindra Jadeja's delivery jumped sharply off the surface. AP
Sri Lanka suffered a setback as their captain Dinesh Chandimal failed to make it count in the second innings as well. He fell for just 2 runs after facing 6 balls. AP
After 2 quick wickets. Dimuth Karunaratne and Angelo Mathews provided some resistance to avoid a collapse. The duo added 69 runs for the 5th wicket before Mathews was caught smartly by wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha for 36. AP

The World no.1 Test bowler, Ravindra Jadeja, created problems for the home side as he went on to bag his 9th 5-wicket haul in Tests. Jadeja was also named Man of the Match for his all round performance in the 2nd Test. AP
India came through after Sri Lanka stretched them for 2 more sessions on Day 4 as the final wicket of Nuwan Pradeep fell in the additional time taken before Tea. Virat Kohli completed his 8 Test series win on a trot, only Australia's Ricky Ponting has a better record of 9 consecutive Test series win.
