Smriti Irani, BJP candidate in Amethi constituency, challenging Preeti Sahay, who is the Public Relations Officer of Priyanka Gandhi outside a polling booth in Amethi on Wednesday. According to reports, the duo had a verbal spat over Sahay’s presence in a poll booth in Jagdishpur village. Irani had arrived at the booth and seeing Sahay had asked her for the pass which Priyanka’s PRO could not produce. According to Irani, Sahay should not have entered the booth. PTI

The Congress version of the Sahay-Irani saga is different. Later Congress spokesperson Tehseen Poonawalla put out a series of tweets defending Sahay’s actions and said that Sahay had in fact questioned Irani who was trying to influence voters at the poll booth. Poonawalla had said that Sahay had never raised her voice, that it was in fact Irani who had shouted at Priyanka’s PRO when Irani was caught trying to influence voters. PTI
