Security arrangements were in place as voters queued up at voting stations. As many as 24 constituencies spread over seven districts of the Union Territory went to polls in Phase 1 of elections. Officials said the security arrangements included multi-tier forces from the Central Armed Paramilitary Forces (CAPF), Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police, and J-K Police. PTI

In the first assembly polls in J-K since the abrogation of Article 370, enthusiastic voters queued up at polling stations to exercise their franchise. Kishtwar (70.03 per cent) recorded highest voter turnout followed by followed by Doda(61.90 per cent), Ramban (60.04 per cent), Kulgam (50.57 per cent), Shopian (46.84 per cent), Anantnag (46.67 per cent) and Pulwama (36.90 per cent).
