Veterans and world leaders were moved to tears at ceremonies in France and the UK to mark the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landing in Normandy. It is on this day, 6 June 1944, that more than 150,000 Allied soldiers invaded France by sea and air to drive out the forces of Nazi Germany during World War II
