After landing in Italy’s Apulia for the G7 summit, PM Modi began his day with a bilateral meet with French president Emmanuel Macron. At their meet, the two leaders discussed ways to further strengthen the strategic partnership in areas like defence, nuclear and space. PTI

This is Modi and Macron’s fourth meeting in a year and first since the former was sworn in as PM for a third term. Modi also conveyed his best wishes to Macron on the hosting of the Paris Olympics, which begins next month. The two leaders reviewed bilateral relations, focusing on the ‘Horizon 2047’ Roadmap and the Indo-Pacific Roadmap. PTI

Modi and Sunak last met in person at the G20 Summit in New Delhi last September. Following his meet, Modi said on X: “It was a delight to meet PM @RishiSunak in Italy. Modi conveyed to the Ukrainian leader that India would continue to do everything within its means to support a peaceful solution to the conflict and that the way to peace is through “dialogue and diplomacy”.
