Since 12 August, six new encephalitis deaths have been registered at the state-run Gorakhpur hospital. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath denied that the deaths over the last week were due to lack of oxygen supply and instead attributed them to encephalitis, a disease that is endemic to the state. PTI
