The city received a record 70mm rainfall, accompanied by squally winds in the last 12 hours, inundating low-lying areas. Areas such as Banashankari, Richmond Road, Gali Anjaneya Temple, Vijayanagar, Majestic, Shanthinagar, BTM Layout, Madivala and Sarjapura Road were badly affected. PTI
"Heavy rain began after midnight and continued till the early hours, flooding several areas in Bommasandra and Anekal towards Hosur across the inter-state border, and Kengeri and Nayandanahalli towards Mysuru," a civic body official said. PTI
Low-lying areas were inundated and trees and electricity poles were uprooted in the southern suburbs causing a lot of damage to life and property. PTI
An electric pole lies fallen on a two-wheeler. The rains claimed four lives including a couple and a teenager. The local Met office has predicted moderate to heavy rain in parts of the city in the next 24 hours. PTI
The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike had set up 21 special teams to clear roads of fallen trees, electricity poles and to repair snapped power lines. The municipal body was flooded with complaints about uprooting of trees, floods and power disruption. PTI
