Mount Agung is the island’s highest and most sacred volcano, home to the Pura Besakih temple complex. The alert status was raised to the maximum danger level of 4 after its seismic activity rose to the highest ever recorded levels. Reuters

The people who have fled the volcano are scattered across Bali in more than 400 different locations, including temporary camps, sports centers and other public buildings. AP

He also met the affected people in the shelter. The National Disaster Mitigation Agency said a monitoring center had recorded more than 800 earthquakes so far till Wednesday and thin smoke was observed rising 50 meters (160 feet) above the crater. Reuters
