Mount Agung, a rumbling volcano towering over the east of the Indonesian island of Bali, has forced more than 140,000 people to evacuate as authorities warn it could erupt at any time.

Mount Agung is the island’s highest and most sacred volcano, home to the Pura Besakih temple complex. The alert status was raised to the maximum danger level of 4 after its seismic activity rose to the highest ever recorded levels. Reuters

He also met the affected people in the shelter. The National Disaster Mitigation Agency said a monitoring center had recorded more than 800 earthquakes so far till Wednesday and thin smoke was observed rising 50 meters (160 feet) above the crater. Reuters
