Assam Assembly Election 2016: First phase of polling sees 70 percent turnout

The first phase of polling for the Assam Assembly Election took place on 4 April. Voters cast their ballot in more than 60 constituencies.

Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president Anjan Dutta along with his daughter and Congress candidate from Amguri LAC Angkita Dutta and other family members cast their votes in Amguri on Monday. "During the municipality election in Amguri town, I have visited almost every household. So they have seen me working and most of them have seen me growing up as well since 1991. So for them I am not Anjan Dutta's daughter, I am their daughter. So I don't think I have any of those (dynastic) problems," Angkita told Firstpost. PTI
