All party meet: Opposition leaders briefed by govt about situation in Kashmir, Sino-Indian border

The purpose of the meeting was to apprise MPs from different parties about the situation along Sino-Indian border and in Kashmir, officials said.

Opposition leaders were briefed by Home Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Defence Minister Arun Jaitley among top officials, including National Security Advisor Doval and Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar, on a number of issues ahead of the Parliament session that begins on Monday. Doval and Jaishankar made a detailed presentation before the opposition leaders, including those from the Congress, the Left, NCP, SP and TMC, saying Indian Army is in a stand-off with the People’s Liberation Army of China in the India-Bhutan-China tri-junction. PTI

After the meeting which took place at Rajnath Singh’s residence, Ghulam Nabi Azad of Congress said that all opposition parties assured the government that when it comes to territorial integrity of the country “we should all stand united”. PTI

Derek O’Brien of Trinamool Congress said that Opposition parties asked serious questions to the government during the meeting. “Why was govt unprepared & if this was their failure? We didn’t get answers we were looking for,” he said. PTI
