The police had reportedly barricaded a road in the suburb as part of its drive to curb drunk driving in the city and when the woman approached the barricade, she was asked to park her car. She then allegedly tried to break through the barricade and flee.
When she failed to do so, she locked herself in the car for close to two hours and when asked to step out by police officials, she started hurling abuses.
Later, when two women police constables did manage to get into the car, they had to push her out of the car and took her to the nearby police station.
“We did a breathalyzer test and found she was drunk. We tried to arrest her but she locked herself into the car,” said a police officer.
A case has been registered against her under the Motor Vehicle Act.
She was later let off after paying a fine of Rs 1200, but she continued to hurl abuses at cops and even chased a journalist down the street.
