Mumbai: Two motorcycle borne assailants opened fire at the film city in Goregaon in Mumbai on Friday, very close to where megastar Amitabh Bachchan was shooting, leaving the owner of a security agency critically injured. Bachchan, who said the incident took place just 20 feet from where he was shooting, erroneously tweeted that a person was killed in the “gangwar shootout”. PTI[/caption] According to police, the assailants struck around 2 pm at one of Mumbai’s most favoured shooting locations. Raju Shinde, 45, who was seated on a chair under a tree suffered bullet injury and was taken to Nanavati Hospital, they said. The two assailants, who are yet to be identified, opened fire at Shinde, who owns the security agency. Shinde is also an office bearer of Shiv Sena’s film wing, Chitrapat Sena. He received two bullets injuries in his abdomen and one on the right hand, said additional commissioner of police Fateh Singh Patil. “After the firing, the assailants were chased by another security guard and both attackers ran away leaving their motorcycle in the jungle of Arey,” he said. “We have seized the motorcycle. We are finding out the details,” Patil added. Meanwhile, Bachchan tweeted, “Okay! Shooting at Film City… and a gang war shootout 20 feet from where we are… 1 dead.. cops all over.” It is not clear what the actor was filming when the incident took place. He has been working out at the gym for an untitled film but is yet to reveal details about the project. Later Bachchan posted on Twitter that the person, who was shot at, has been taken to the hospital and was not dead as mentioned in his earlier tweet. “Correction: in gang shoot out where I was shooting in Film City person shot at is NOT dead. He has been taken to hospital,” Bachchan wrote. Later the lawyer of the security agency contractor who was injured in the incident said Shinde had approached Mumbai Police in January seeking protection. “In January, Raju Shinde had written to Mumbai police saying he has threat to life from two persons - Khalid Khan and Anwar Sayyed,” Sushan Kunjuraman told PTI. In his letter, Shinde had also named his former business partner Rakesh Bhosale, he said. “Bhosale was using Khan and Sayyed to threaten Shinde as he wanted to usurp his business,” the letter said.
