Mumbai: The 17-year-old minor boy who is an accused in the 31 July gangrape case was identified by the survivor and her boyfriend today, during an identification parade held at the juvenile remand home in South Mumbai, police said. “Test Identification Parade (TIP) was conducted today at a juvenile remand home in South Mumbai’s Dongri area where the 17-year-old accused is lodged. The victim, who is a telephone operator, identified the juvenile accused as one of the five culprits who had sexually assaulted her on 31 July in Shakti Mills compound. Reuters[/caption] The 18-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped on 31 July by five men, three of who were also involved in the 22 August photojournalist gangrape case, the police said. The three accused involved in both the cases are Salim Ansari, Vijay Jadhav, Mohammed Qasim and Hafiz Shaikh alias ‘Kasim Bangali’, who are currently in jail. The police is yet to trace the fifth accused named Mohammed Ashfaque in the case. During the TIP today, a group of people, including the minor who is an accused in the gangrape case, were queued up before the victim and her boyfriend, who identified him, the official said, adding that “the process was conducted under the supervision of a magistrate.” On 22 August evening, a photojournalist was gangraped at the deserted Shakti Mills compound in Mahalaxmi, when she had gone there on an assignment with her male colleague. Within three days, the police nabbed all five accused in the case. On 3 September, another gangrape surfaced, after a telephone operator complained to the police that she too was gangraped by a group of five at Shakti Mills on 31 July. PTI
