Kavita Karkare passed away after she slipped into a coma due to brain haemorrhage. IBNLive[/caption] A statement from the Hinduja hospital, where she had been admitted, said that she “was declared brain dead on Monday morning.” The statement further added that “the two daughters and son have consented to donate their mother, Late Kavita Karkare’s organs for the treatment of needy patients.” Mrs Karkare had slipped into a coma after a brain hemorrhage and had been admitted to the Hinduja hospital in a critical condition. “Kavita Karkare had a brain haemorrhage because of which she was taken to Hinduja Hospital at Mahim on Saturday. Her condition is critical and she is in coma. Her treatment is underway,” a police officer had said. Mrs Karkare had been in the news for demanding better weapons, training and facilities for police personnel after her husband’s killing. Her husband Hemant Karkare had died fighting terrorists during the 26/11 attacks in Mumbai in 2008. He had been killed by terrorists near Mumbai’s Cama Hospital, along with Additional Police Commissioner Ashok Kamte and senior police inspector Vijay Salaskar. (With inputs from PTI)
