Dabbawallas' political plans: eye ticket for civic polls

Mumbai: The city’s famous ‘dabbawallas’, who have been praised for their services to office-goers for years, now want to dabble in politics and are eyeing ticket from the Shiv Sena for the forthcoming polls to the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM). We cannot contest the elections. If we get representation at the MCGM or at the state legislative assembly through the Shiv Sena we will be able to put forward our demands,” MDA founder Raghunath Medge said. “The Shiv Sena has been lending its support to the dabbawallas over the years and if they offer a poll ticket to us to contest the civic body elections we would welcome it,” he added. The MCGM polls are slated to be held early next year. PTI
