Balasaheb Thackeray was not just a politician, but almost a political demi-god in Mumbai. The breadth of his influence was witnessed not just by the manner in which Mumbai shuttered down minutes after his death was announced, but also by the reactions to his death that came in by politicians and celebrities alike.

As is the norm these days, many of them  have taken to Twitter to mourn the stalwart's death. While Amitabh Bachchan expressed disbelief, Lata Mangeshkar said in a tweet that she was deeply disturbed by the news of his death.
