Fans of the Harry Potter series have many regrets — the ending of the books, the shortcomings of the movies, the death of the many lead characters and most importantly the fact that they never got their Hogwarts letters. Reuters[/caption] In the books, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is the magical school that the protagonist attends. In order to attend the school, a witch or a wizard have to get their admission letters at the age of 11, after which their magical education begins. Many of us fans who grew up reading the series have often spoken about how we did not receive our Hogwarts letter at the age 11 and are sill waiting for it. Now it seems like JK Rowling, author of the series, has finally solved the mystery of the missing letters. Turns out, all of us have got our Hogwarts letters after all. Rowling answered a fan on Twitter saying, “All these people saying they never got their Hogwarts letter: you got the letter. You went to Hogwarts. We were all there together.” Now before you wonder how it is possible because you were stuck in school with your Muggle (non-magical) education, back up a little bit and remember what Hogwarts Headmaster Albus Dumbledore once said. “Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?” Dumbledore told Harry in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows when both of them are stuck in an afterlife like state that enabled Harry to ‘save the world’. Rowling used those exact words to convey to her die-hard fans that we were at Hogwarts with Harry all the time. Isn’t that the magic of book, after all, to experience fictional places through our imagination?

This is not the first time that Rowling has made her fans feel part of the magical world that she created. The dedication of the final Harry Potter book read “…and to you, if you have stuck with Harry until the very end.” She has also recently started interacting with her fans on Twitter, answering questions about characters and plots. She has also been cheering people who have given up on life and trolling homophobic and politically motivated people and even apologising for the deaths in the book. Seems like she is sticking to the words she famously uttered at the launch of her website Pottermore, “Whether you come back by page or by the big screen, Hogwarts will always be there to welcome you home.”
