We often refer to earth as a living being when we call it Mother Earth or Gaia (the Greek goddess who personifies earth). But all these references are clearly metaphorical.

In a video which shows how scary and overwhelming it would be if these references were literal, a video on YouTube showed an amazing and scary natural phenomenon which made it seem like the earth was 'breathing'.

Yes, watching the video will convince anyone that the earth or, to put it in a more creepy way, the very planet on which all living beings reside, is itself a living being.

In the video, one can see the ground moving up and down, imitating the movement of the chest of a breathing living being.

The video was taken by a man called Brian Nutall at Apple river in Nova Scotia, Cananda.

However, don't think that the planet is alive. Because there is a simple explanation for this incident. The 'breathing' movement was caused by a huge system of tree roots which were no longer securly attached to the ground, according to The Sydney Morning Herald.

As the trees blew in the wind, the roots would raise the ground with them and then fall back, causing the movement.
