One of the most popular answers you get when you ask a kid what he or she wants to be when he or she grows up is ‘astronaut’. Most of the people still would love to travel to space and float around in zero gravity and look at what our home planet actually looks like. AP[/caption] NASA has made a documentary celebrating 50 years of extra-vehicular activity (EVA) or spacewalks. The first two spacewalks were done by Russian Alexey Leonov in March 1965 and American astronaut Edward White in June 1965. “I look down, and the Earth is down here. I hurry and get back and do some more things. And I had another rest period. And so, this time, I took one foot out…and I looked…uh-oh, the earth’s not there. Oh, there it is…up there,” said Buzz Aldrin, the legendary astronaut who was the second person to set foot on the moon, after Neil Armstrong. “To be in the space suit outside and to look out in any direction was pretty neat,” said Indian-origin astronaut Sunita Williams. As the documentary goes through the history of spacewalks right from the days of space exploration rising out of the Cold War rivalry, you can’t help but feel a rush of excitement as the documentary tells you exactly how much mankind has achieved in these last 50 years, as scientists are now talking about astronauts walking on Mars.
