Traditionally, holidays are about spreading cheer and joy— but Wal-Mart is neither spreading joy nor getting any of it. [caption id=“attachment_1778691” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] Image courtesy: Twitter[/caption] Twitter users raised hell on Wednesday after the US retail giant labelled the plus-size category of Halloween costumes as ‘fat girls’ costumes’ on its website. Wal-Mart was quick to fix the goof but not before multiple screen grabs were clicked and were doing rounds of social media. Twitterati branded the description as “unacceptable”, “rude” and “shameful.”
Beautiful job @Walmart . Allowing this to be up for even a second. Way to be progressive. pic.twitter.com/8J3Wa9F4p9

I love how @Walmart screwed up horribly with the #fatgirlcostume url & just use the same generic apology. So glad I don't work there anymore

The category was first reported by Jezebel which in turn was alerted by a customer who was looking for costumes on the retail giant’s website. Wal-Mart immediately released an apology saying: “This never should have been on our site. It is unacceptable and we apologize/ We worked quickly to remove it this morning and are taking additional steps to ensure this never happens again.” It also sent out individual tweets apologising for the faux pas and in a statement said the category should have never gone live. Although, now all the apologies or any mention of the goof has been removed from Wal-Mart’s Twitter handle.
Walmarts apologies are so sincere and personalized. I totally feel like they give a crap.. pic.twitter.com/wBv7x0IjUl
